Treating acne with the SkinBase IPL

IPL for treating acne

SkinBase intense pulsed light (IPL) treatments are proven to be astonishingly effective in treating acne. Not a lot of people are aware that IPL is so successful as an acne treatment and many people just associate IPL with hair removal. Yes, a course of IPL is fantastic for reducing body hair, but IPL acne treatments can be life changing for those that have it done.

How does it work?

The IPL system releases yellow, green and red light that is emitted in a series of short pulses. This destroys the bacteria that live in the skin and cause inflammation. The red light directly targets the overactive sebaceous glands that block pores and cause outbreaks of pustules. The light also stimulates collagen production in the area, helping to improve the appearance of acne scarring.

How many treatments will I need?

A course of 3-4 treatments is recommended at 2-3 week intervals to achieve the best results.

Will it hurt?

Slight discomfort may be felt during the session, but it is not painful at all. A cooling cryo-handset is applied to the skin beforehand, to ensure client’s comfort.

Our very own SkinBase team member, Alex has only recently started having IPL to treat her breakouts, but she is so thrilled by the results, we just had to share a quote from her;

“I am absolutely amazed at how fast IPL has treated my acne! I have only had 2 treatments and it has cleared up a lot! Before, I was taking medication to bring my acne down but it didn’t really help and since I have had a couple of treatments my skin feels great and the deep sore spots are no longer as visible or sore! I would 100% definitely recommend this to anyone who suffers with acne.”
