5 Tips to make sure you have a great online profile

We know as a business owner you are super busy so these few tips could go a long way to helping you appear the best you can online.

Tip 1 – Make sure it’s up-to-date

If you have a blog make sure it wasn’t last updated in 2017, otherwise get rid. This just makes your website look outdated and doesn’t give the best impression. Blogs need to be update regularly, monthly is fine and gives you a chance to update clients on what’s happening in your business and any new products/trends you recommend. Use a freelancer to write the blog for you if you are struggling to write it well. Provide as many pointers as you can and they will do the rest for you. Blogs also provide great content for emails and give you a reason to contact clients and put yourself in front of them.

Tip 2 – Keep it simple

Likewise make sure all the pages on your website are finished and contain up to date info. If they don’t go anywhere or don’t contain any information, get rid of those pages. It’s better to have just a few pages of key information than several pages of unfinished information.

Tip 3 – Make sure links work!

Make sure any links go where they should when you click and get them updated pronto if they are broken. We see this a lot and new clients aren’t going to hunt around the internet for information that should just be there.

Tip 4 – What impression do you give?

Think about how things like your experience and qualifications look. If you’ve not gained any new qualifications since 2010 now might be a good time to demonstrate your commitment to improving your skills and keeping updated. These are the kinds of things that new clients will be looking at. Think about the kind of clients you want to attract and what they might want to see. Evidence of professional development, evidence of a commitment to update and stay ahead of current trends in beauty/hair.

Tip 5 – No website? Get a free google listing

If you don’t have a website, not to worry, a good facebook page and a google listing for your business is more than adequate as long as you ensure the key information is there. If you don’t have a google listing you can add this for free.  Google My Business – https://www.google.com/business/  It will take 10 minutes to set up and provide an important online presence for your business. People will be able to instantly find you and get your contact details, see inside your business (there is an option to upload photos), you could also upload a copy of your pricelist and read reviews.
